Scilly Gigs Tea Towel

Cotton tea towel featuring pictures of local Scilly pilot gigs.

Pilot gigs were traditionally rowed out to large ships to get a pilot on board and win lucrative contracts. They were also used as an early form of lifeboat. These days, gig boats are used for rowing races and are prominent in and around Scilly and Cornwall and the sport of gig rowing is gradually spreading.
